Pima Community College is providing a new transportation option to assist students and employees traveling between campuses and The University of Arizona.
The new Aztec Shuttle hits the road August 28 and can accommodate up to 14 passengers. Each shuttle vehicle also is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
The service will connect the PCC’s Downtown Campus, West Campus, Desert Vista Campus and The University of Arizona. Riders must show a valid PCC ID.
“As a multi-campus institution many of our students travel between campuses,” said Dr. Jerome Migler, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. “The Aztec Shuttle offers them convenient access to do so.”
The shuttle service will operate twice a day, Monday through Thursday, during the fall and spring semesters, excluding College observed holidays, Rodeo break, Spring break, Summer session and Winter Recess.
The morning route will depart from Old Main at The University of Arizona at 7:10 a.m. The shuttle will stop at the Downtown Campus, West Campus and Desert Vista Campus.
The afternoon route departs from the Desert Vista Campus at 4:10 p.m. The shuttle will stop at the West Campus and Downtown Campus, and end at UA’s Old Main at 5 p.m.
“We are pleased to serve the transportation needs of PCC students, faculty and staff,” said Bill Ward, the College’s vice chancellor for facilities. “Providing convenient transportation services between campuses is a comfortable alternative for commuting.”
Arizona Shuttle, one of the premier transportation companies in Arizona, will handle the day-to-day operation of the shuttle service.
The one-year contract between PCC and Arizona Shuttle was approved by the PCC Governing Board in February with an option to renew for an additional year through 2017.
Arizona Shuttle currently transports more than 250,000 passengers a year with shuttles running daily between Tucson, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott Valley, Sedona, Verde Valley and the Grand Canyon.
