Earlier today, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was notified by the Tucson Police Department that a number of Sheriff’s Department Corrections Officers were under investigation for assaults occurring outside a local bar. All Corrections Officers were off-duty at the time of the bar fight. The Sheriff’s Department was further notified that the below listed Corrections Officers were arrested on felony assault charges and booked into the Pima County Jail.

Renee Carlson, a spokeswoman for the department, said, "The criminal conduct and behavior of the involved Corrections Officers is shocking and reprehensible. We anticipate several terminations by the end of the week and more discipline in the next weeks as the investigation continues. The below listed Corrections Officers have been placed on Administrative Leave while under investigation."

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. The officers involved in the alleged altercation include John Hyatt, Matthew Garcia, Anthony Bonfiglio, Steve Haglund and Angel Castaneda.
