In her State of the State address last Tuesday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer expressed her continued optimism about the direction of Arizona’s economy, and called for increased competition in the realms of job creation and education.

While the commentary was met with resounding applause by the packed house floor of the Westin La Paloma, there was, literally, a lone audience member clapping when Brewer touched on another subject – that of her surrendering push against the Affordable Health Care Act, and an agreement to a large expansion of the state’s Medicaid program, a key component of President Barack Obama’s health care reform.

The response would suggest a largely Republican audience, as Democrats have overwhelmingly supported the decision. Those on the right, however, have remained confused, or in opposition to Brewer’s latest health care stance, some even saying she has abandoned her own party by allowing Medicaid expansion

“Frankly, I hate to see it – I really do,” said Sen. Al Melvin, District 11-Oro Valley. “I wish she would stand shoulder to shoulder with her fellow Republican governors and resist this as much as we can.”

But, where Melvin stands firm against Medicaid expansion, Brewer claims there are limited options otherwise.

“Try as we might, the law was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Brewer. “The President was re-elected, and his party controls the U.S. Senate. In short, the Affordable Health Care Act isn’t going anywhere – at least not for the time being.”

By agreeing to expand the state’s Medicaid program, Brewer said Arizonans will see certain advantages, including: protecting rural and safety-net hospitals from being pushed to the brink by their growing costs in caring for the uninsured, taking advantage of the enormous economic benefits by injecting $2 billion into the economy – saving and creating thousands of jobs – and lastly, providing health care to hundreds of thousands of low-income Arizonans.

Melvin doesn’t see the benefits as optimistically as Brewer, though.

“It looks like easy money, but over 40 cents on the federal dollar is borrowed from the Chinese from generational theft,” he said. “I can’t believe she wants to engage in this."

The answer, according to Melvin, is creating more jobs.

“We are well on our way now, and there is more she can do in that area, particularly relating to the Union Pacific Railroad, which would create tens of thousands of jobs, and Rosemont Copper Mine, which would create 2,200 jobs,” he said.

A refusal of Medicaid expansion locally would mean Arizona’s tax dollars are instead used to provide health care for citizens in other states, according to Brewer.

State Rep. Steve Smith, a R- LD11, was hesitant to speak on Brewer’s decisions on health care policy until reading the exact legislation. However, on the topic of Brewer’s sales tax reform, which calls for a blanketed tax code for businesses, Smith said Brewer’s plan looks perfect – almost.

“The new legislation does not ensure that local construction sales tax stays local,” said Smith. “After speaking with places like Oro Valley and Marana, I want to address this and make sure that tax stays at the local level.”

While local Republicans continue to question some of Brewer’s motives, there seems to be a more harmonious relationship when it comes to the topic of school safety. Still, how to best go about assuring the proper effectiveness and affordability of protecting schools is also an unresolved matter.

In light of the recent Newtown, Conn. shooting at an elementary school, Brewer is calling for the continued use of School Resource Officers on campuses.

“My budget plan will expand state funding for these trained officers,” reads the transcript.

While Smith said he is not opposed to having resource officers on school campuses, it is “difficult to write legislation against crazy.”

“In Colorado, the shooter entered a movie theater,” he said. “Do you put an armed guard in front of every theater now? What do you do when you have these lunatic, moronic idiots out there? There are some things you can do, yes. I’m not against having SROs on school campuses, though I’d prefer to have retired police or military, where it’s not as cost prohibitive.”

Determining an appropriate solution to the nation’s mental health issue will be just as challenging, says Smith.

“In some of these shootings, the shooter wasn’t even diagnosed,” said Smith. “How do you prevent someone who is not even diagnosed from doing this? Do you force someone into treatment?”

There’s one thing Smith is sure of though – a ban of any sort against firearms is not the solution, nor will he stand for legislation passed down from the federal government that would enforce such policy.

“I’m 100 percent against that,” said Smith. “Arizona will not adhere to any federal regulation in the limiting of gun ownership, assault rifles, or clip size. I plan to immunize Arizona from such federal policies.”

On Jan. 16, President Barack Obama rolled out a four-part plan that includes: closing background check loopholes to keep guns out of dangerous hands; banning military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and taking other common-sense steps to reduce gun violence; making schools safer; and increasing access to mental health services. He stood on stage with four young students, each of them had previously written the President a letter prompting an end to gun violence.

Foregoing congressional approval, Obama also issued 23 executive orders to begin making immediate process. Some Republicans have begun calling for impeachment proceedings as a result of his actions.

“I personally believe that we need to make sure this is not done by executive order, but by legislation,” said Melvin. “I think what he is doing, and using children as he did is morally and ethically wrong.”

On Tuesday, New York became the first state to sign into law a gun control bill, which included a major expansion of the state’s assault weapon ban.

It is difficult to realistically appraise the economic consequences of our massive debt and the effects of Obamacare legislation in the short term, but in the long term, the situation is potentially catastrophic.
It is difficult for governors in our land to set priorities and establish budgets when the Federal budget is such a disaster. Governor Brewer is doing her best under the circumstances, and she will receive criticism from both her party as well as the continually negative Democrats and their media supporters.
Spending mandates by the Federal government also become transferred to the states as obligations to be paid in a bad economy with a lower tax revenue. Unlike New York and other states, where the taxpayer is always screwed by arrogant Democratic policymakers who merely raise bridge tolls, increase fees everywhere, raise property and school taxes, and intimidate residents into silence, Arizona is trying to hold the line.
One reason the economy will not rebound too quickly is because Obamacare costs will discourage employers in the private sector from hiring, a fact ignored by Obama and the Democrats. I do not believe that Obama is capable of reasoning a consensus and addressing the debt problem in any rational way. Our economic problems will be worse in the years to come unless we elect the right leaders. At the present, we have a socialist president who will make the problems we have far worse.

THIS IS NOT WHAT THE LATE SENATOR TED KENNEDY PROMISED AMERICANS?

President Obama’s Legacy has a potential of more unemployment, taxes, spending by pressing for Immigration Amnesty; telling the poor of foreign countries that if you can slip past the border or arrive by plane, we will pay for your financial support. My guess is somehow King Obama, Prince Harry Reid and his little subordinates are going to find a way through some deceitful loophole, to cover every criminal alien (all of them) who sniggers at immigration agents at all ports of entry including airlines with free health care? Illegal aliens are far knowledgeable of how to cheat the entitlement system, then most citizens except the “FREELOADERS”. Offering Drivers licenses is insane or any kind of financial benefit is just going to draw even more dire poverty laden people, bringing their diseases, when our government ignores citizens with mental health issues, senior citizens living on the streets and real citizen families who have to get in breadlines?

The Imperial court of President Elect Obama will be in session very shortly and many issues are on the Congressional list. Heed the warning that in the coming days that he is adamant on pushing through some form of amnesty for the 10 to 20 million plus illegal aliens already in the United States. The majority of people who remain unconcerned with politics, means that that they are unaware that conventional methods of being voted on in the House of Representatives, is being bypassed under this regime and not following the edicts of the U.S. Constitution? First it was the lone Obama authority to give a free pass to children of illegal aliens, which has been called the Dream Act. With the origin of the Dream Act which is children being smuggled unborn or in infancy across the thin, poorly guarded borders and agents unable to detect pregnant women arriving by plane from foreign countries that have arrived here for decades. Once on our soil they can gain as an inheritance citizenship for their progeny, which really was for the emancipation of slaves after the union and gray war. Americans must take fervent notice that their futures are in peril, with even more encouragement of illegal migrants and immigrants finding away to gain unauthorized entrance into our sovereign nation. In this 113 session of Congress the ardent listeners in other countries are going to try and reach the mainland.

Birthrights Citizenship MUST BE CHANGED by Conservative voters, who acknowledge an amendment to the 14th Amendment, will save ultimately TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Citizenship given to children upon arrival is skyrocketing in free baby deliveries, free health care for all family members, and free education for all the children born now and later. Only the American citizens can financially reprieve us from this constant threat of females smuggling in their unborn and the U.S. Taxpayer carry the financial burden—without end. Then once the child applies automatic citizenship, it’s hard to return the Mother to the country where she belongs. It’s like a wordless guidebook of how to beat the welfare and immigration system, which eventually leaves to ILLEGAL CHAIN MIGRATION of the extended family. After more pregnancies the mother can collect substantial amounts of money for each child, plus low income housing. Then once settled, more relatives vanquish the border or alight undetected from a plane, this one way visitor, moves in with the family already here, finds a job and vanishes. It goes without say the door should always remain open for STEM workers, who have professional and skilled credentials? But even the most developed nations in the world cannot continue, if at all—to keep supporting other countries poor migrants and immigrants..There is obvious justification for a GUEST WORKER program, but currently it is run disorganized and full of fraudulent activities. AGJobs must be regulated and when contracts expire the labor must return home and not become extra welfare weight on the American public?

Then we have the unknown numbers of illegal aliens in the workplace, while at least 23 million American and residents are either looking for a job, or have no choice to work in part-time employment. This should not continue and citizens an permanent resident holding green cards, should contact their Senators or Congressmen/women and demand they bring to the floor of Congress, the mandatory E-Verify “LEGAL WORKFORCE BILL”, so Washington must act of ridding illegal aliens who have your jobs. Two States are now being cross-referenced through the Drivers License Agencies, which are Florida and Tennessee and more to come in 2013. As an additional recommendation even those who are currently employed, not just new hires should be checked for eligibility to be employed in the U.S.? You can stand firm for all Americans by either using the Internet, your telephone book to see who is you servant locally, state or federal and make these laws active. Stop the special interests and Washington from selling you out. LEARN A LOT MORE AT JUDICIAL WATCH AND NUMBERSUSA.

JUDGE FOR YOURSELF THE PROPAGANDA AND UNDERHAND ENGINEERED POLLS THAT COME FROM THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, THE MAINSTREAM PRESS MANIPULATED BY THE LIBERAL EDITORIAL AND OF COURSE OUR GOVERNMENT?

ATTENTION: Obama lets Chinese own U.S. energy resources.
Beijing is acquiring major ownership in oil, natural gas across nation. (Dr. Jerome R. Corsi) - The Obama administration is quietly allowing China to acquire major ownership interests in oil and natural gas. The decision to allow China to compete for U.S. oil and natural gas resources appears to stem from a need to keep Beijing economically interested in lending to the U.S. The Obama administration has run $1-trillion-plus annual federal budget deficits since taking office that likely will continue in the second term. As World Net Daily reported Monday, Beijing has been developing a proposal in which real estate on American soil owned by China would be set up as “development zones” to establish Chinese-owned businesses and bring in its citizens to the U.S. to work. All this and more will be revealed at TEA PARTY.ORG.
