Last Sunday, the nation marked the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with moving tributes to the victims and first responders of the terrorist attacks that shook our world.
Locally, residents showed their support by hosting a number of commemorative events.
In Oro Valley, bugler Scotty Welch, former U.S. Navy and a member of President Eisenhower’s personal band, played taps four times at Oro Valley Town Hall, marking each of the times at which planes crashed on Sept. 11, 2001.
In Marana, people of all ages gathered at Crossroads at Silverbell Park for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s 5K and 1K runs.
At Casas Church, hundreds gathered in the auditorium to recognize the dedication and sacrifice made by local first responders and their families.
