On Feb. 2 at 9:35 a.m., Pima County Sheriff's deputies from the San Xavier District responded to the Altar Valley Middle School located at 16,350 West Ajo Hwy. in reference to inappropriate text messages being made to a 15-year-old former student. The messages were allegedly being made by the assistant coach of wrestling identified as Ricardo Lee Moreno AKA Richard Lee Harris.
The victim reported the inappropriate texts to the wrestling coach who reported the incident to the principal and the school district.
The Crimes Against Children Unit detectives continued to investigate the case. On Feb. 8, a search warrant was obtained for Moreno's home in the 8400 blk. of South Warden
Road.
Based on the totality of the investigation and evidence collected at Moreno's home, an arrest was made. Mr. Moreno was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on charges of Luring a Minor for Sexual Exploitation, a class three felony.
