Progress to repair downed power lines along Ina Road enabled traffic lanes to reopen around 4 this morning; the remaining two restricted intersections are expected to reopen by this afternoon, said Tim Brunenkant, spokesman for the Marana Police Department.

The intersections at Ina and Thornydale roads, and Ina and Meredith Boulevard remain closed. Work to repair the intersection should be completed some time this afternoon, Brunenkant said.

In the meantime, Brunenkant said motorists should continue using caution, and follow the barricades and officer direction on-site.

Tucson Electric Power and the Town of Marana have been working swiftly over the last three days to restore order along Ina Road after a fast-moving storm struck the northwest area late Tuesday afternoon.

The 15-minute storm knocked down 18 power poles in a one-mile stretch along the busy street, temporarily bringing traffic to a halt and knocking out power to many homes and businesses.

There were no accidents or injuries reported during or after the storm. However, Brunenkant estimated 25 traffic citations were issued over the last three days, mainly to drivers who ignored the "no left turn" signs at the restricted intersections.

Due to live power lines, some businesses in the 4200 block of Ina Road were forced to close. They also reopened Friday morning.
