Early results show Jesse Kelly is leading Republican opponents in the Congressional District 8 primary, where candidates are running in the special election to finish former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ term.

Will all precincts reporting, the unofficial results show Kelly won with 25,679 while political newcomer Martha McSally finished with 17,943, Sen. Frank Antenori received 15,732 votes and Dave Sitton finished with 12,261.

The winner in the special election will face Democrat Ron Barber in the June General Election.

The GOP has nominated a die-hard Tea Party candidate whose lack of education is reflected in his simplistic stances on the issues. As Martha McSally said, if Jesse Kelly really thinks we can solve our energy needs by drilling more wells in the U.S., then he should have used his G.I. bill to get a degree in geology.
