Connecting Tucson is a free resource and transition expo for any person with a disability and their family. It will take place on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Beacon Group (308 W. Glenn Road, near Oracle Road). This third annual event will bring together hundreds of people with disabilities with close to 90 local organizations and service providers.

“Living with a disability can be overwhelming for the individual and their family or caregivers,” said Patrick McCarthy, event chairman and director of development and communications for Beacon Group. “We started Connecting Tucson as a way to help Tucsonans with special needs -- and their families -- to find the services and resources available to them right here in our community.”

The Expo is hosted at Beacon Group, 308 W. Glenn St., just east of Oracle Road. Beacon Group is one of the 14 planning organizations of Connecting Tucson. In addition to Beacon Group, Connecting Tucson's partners are the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities, Rehabilitation Services Administration, the Sonoran UCEDD (University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities), Amphitheater School District, Easter Seals/Blake Foundation, Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, Pima County School Superintendent, DIRECT Center for Independence, Community Partnership of Southern Arizona, DK Advocates, and The Centers for Habilitation, Linkages and the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.
