Snow and ice rang in the new year in Tucson, but folks who made it to higher country didn’t seem to mind the record below-freezing temperatures. The inclement weather was part of a weather system that closed highways in Northern Arizona and at Mount Lemmon starting last Wednesday and lasting into the weekend.
Despite the snowstorms, last month was the fourth-warmest December on record. It was beat out by Decembers in 1980, 1977 and 1950.
