Marana celebrated completion of the Silverbell sanitary sewer interceptor and roadway improvement project at a recent ribbon-cutting.

The $18 million Silverbell project included reconstructing the roadway to five lanes from just south of Cortaro Road to Ina Road. A traffic signal was installed at the Silverbell/Ina intersection.

Other work included installation of a sewer main line, water line replacement and major drainage improvements. A significant amount of archeological artifacts, dating back to 1100 to 1400 A.D., was found during the excavation of the roadway. Many of these artifacts are being preserved, a release said. Landscaping and artwork were placed throughout the project.

"The town thanks Granite Construction and everyone involved for their outstanding work and dedication to the completion of the roadway improvement project," said Town Manager Gilbert Davidson. "This project could not have been completed as successfully without everyone’s cooperation and high standard of work."
