New Marana police chief sworn in

On Jan. 3, Terry Rozema was officially introduced as Marana chief of police during a pinning ceremony at the Marana Municipal Complex,11555 W. Civic Center Dr. 

The Marana Town Council unanimously confirmed his appointment on Dec. 7, after Town Manager Gilbert Davidson shared details of a nationwide search for a successor to Chief Terry Tometich. Davidson called Rozema “a standout candidate for the position.”

A Marana resident for more than 20 years, Rozema served with the Tucson Police Department since 1987 prior to his appointment as Marana chief of police. He served as the TPD’s assistant chief over the support services division, which includes SWAT, traffic and communications among its functions. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Calvin (Mich.) College and is a graduate of the National FBI Academy in Washington, D.C.
