A third new Rotary Club is being formed in the Northwest.

Jay McCall, a Northwest resident who helped found the new Foothills Rotary Club and served as its charter president, is beginning the Canyon Rotary Club.

It will meet on Thursday evenings at the Metropolitan Grill, with a 5:30 p.m. social time and a dinner meeting at 6.

Its first and informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29.

Before forming the Foothills Club, McCall facilitated the Dove Mountain Rotary Club. “My goal is to form at least four new Rotary Clubs in the Tucson metroplex to add at least 100 new members to Rotary,” he said.

Rotary was founded in 1905 in Chicago by young attorney Paul Harris to build a circle of friendships for social and business purposes. The organization grew. Early on, members became involved in meeting community needs.

Today Rotary International offers “Service above Self” for more than 1.2 million members in 200 countries and territories through more than 32,000 clubs.

“Rotary membership offers professional networking while working on projects and programs that enrich communities locally and globally,” he said.
