A Maricopa Superior Court judge has ruled in Marana’s favor over the disputed ownership of sewer pipes. But, who exactly owns the plant itself will have to go before a jury, according to Marana spokesman Rodney Campbell.
Last week, attorneys from Marana and Pima County presented arguments on who owns the sewer conveyance system (181.66 miles of pipes) and the Marana Wastewater Treatment Facility, near the corner of Marana and Luckett roads.
The county owns and operates the sewer plant.
The case went to court when Marana claimed that dissolving a 1979 intergovernmental agreement with the county meant that the town would get ownership of both the pipes and the sewer plant.
