Oro Valley police on Tuesday, March 24, arrested two men
suspected of trafficking in heroin and other narcotics.
“These two are associated with a subject who sells to high
school kids,” Oro Valley Police Sgt. Mike McBride said of the
arrests.
McBride said Carlos Arce-Mendivil and Daniel Castro Samudio were
suspected of supplying drugs to a Canyon Del Oro High School
student who died last week from an apparent heroin overdose.
Police became aware of the suspected drug dealers while
monitoring a known drug house in Oro Valley, McBride said.
They later followed the suspects to a drug deal in the parking
lot of the Walgreens’ at River Road and First Avenue.
Officers apprehended the suspects, both suspected illegal
immigrants, and seized more than 10 grams of heroin and a half-gram
of cocaine.
The men were later taken to the Pima County Adult Detention
Center and booked on numerous drug counts.
Police also questioned the female buyer the men planned to
meet.
The woman told police that she also knew the CDO student who
died last week, McBride said.
