The 31-year-old man who died in a car accident Saturday, Sept. 25, at the intersection of Innovation Park Drive and Tangerine Road in Oro Valley has been identified as David P. Martinez II.
At about 12:38 p.m. Saturday, Oro Valley police responded to the scene. A woman by the name of Sandra Chavez, 54, was traveling west on Tangerine Road and entered the intersection, striking Martinez's vehicle on the driver's side. Both were transported to local hospitals. Martinez was pronounced dead a short time later. Chavez was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, but speed has not been ruled out.
