Open houses are being conducted in Oro Valley and Marana to gather public input on Sun Shuttle routes.

The Regional Transportation Authority is conducting the events, which are scheduled for:

• Monday, Oct. 5, 5:30-7 p.m., Oro Valley Council Chambers, 11000 North La Canada Drive;

• Wednesday, Oct. 7, 6:30-8 p.m., Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library, 7800 North Schisler Drive, Marana.

RTA is asking for comments on Sun Shuttle Route 402 in Oro Valley, and Route 411 in Marana. RTA is also presenting "alternate service options for each community to consider," a release said.

Since initiating service in May, Route 402 has averaged fewer than 30 riders per week.

Working with Oro Valley, RTA plans to present four options for public consideration.  Those include adding a second bus to provide bi-directional service as opposed to the one-way route; flex-route service to allow buses to go into residential areas adjacent to the route; provide curb-to-curb service in specific zones; and providing curb-to-curb in one larger zone.

Sessions are being held in Sahuarita and Green Valley as well.

"Based on the feedback received in each of these locations, Sun Shuttle service may be adjusted to better meet passenger needs," the release continued.

Funded by the RTA, Sun Shuttle is the neighborhood circulator transit service launched in May 2009 to serve Marana, Oro Valley, Catalina, Sahuarita and Green Valley.
