On Jan. 11, the Pima County Sheriff's Department issued the following recap of the events that occurred Jan. 8 and upcoming related events:

In response to the incident that occurred Saturday, Jan. 8, local public safety partners have been working collaboratively in order to expedite public safety and emergency medical responses.

The agencies involved are: Pima County Sheriff's Department, Marana Police Department, Golder Ranch Fire Department, Department of Public Safety, Northwest Fire District, Rural Metro Fire Department, Tucson Fire Department, Oro Valley Police Department, Tucson Police Department and Pima Community College Police Department.

As with any large-scale incident, all of these public safety agencies have come together and participated in a seamless response to the initial emergency and all subsequent events. They continue to work jointly to provide the most accurate and current information to the public and members of the media.

The following is a recap of Saturday's events. On Jan. 8, at approximately 10 a.m., deputies responded to the Safeway located at the southeast corner of Oracle and Ina roads. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was holding a town hall meeting at the location when 22-year-old Jared Loughner opened fire with a handgun.

Twenty individuals were injured, including the congresswoman. Five were pronounced deceased at the scene and a 9-year-old, Christina Taylor Green, was later pronounced at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as: John Roll (63), Dorothy Morris (76), Dorwan Stoddard (76), Christina Green (9), Phyllis Schneck (79) and Gabriel Zimmerman (30).

During the rest of this week, there are multiple events that are occurring throughout Pima County. All the local agencies are working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and U. S. Marshals to ensure that the events are secure for the families and members of the community to come together to mourn the loss of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

The following is a timeline of the events:

• January 11: Mass at 7 p.m. at St. Odillia

• January 12: Rosary for Christina Green from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Odillia

• January 13: Funeral for Christina Green at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

• January 13: Rosary for John M. Roll from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Thomas

• January 14: Funeral for John M. Roll at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

• January 14: Burial for John M. Roll to follow the funeral at Holy Hope Cemetery (Private)

Members of the public who attend the events should be aware that parking is limited at all locations. People are encouraged to carpool or make arrangements to limit the number of cars at each location.
