Amber Moore Smith has joined the Metropolitan Pima Alliance as its governmental relations director, a release said.
Smith was most recently the intergovernmental relations associate for Racy Associates, where she developed political strategies for governmental approval of policies and projects. She assisted in the collaboration between the town of Marana and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on remapping flood plain areas, an effort that was recognized with a 2008 MPA Common Ground Award of Distinction.
At MPA, Smith is working with executive director Michael Guymon and the board “to develop public policy priorities that meet MPA’s mission and goals, working with the various jurisdictions in metropolitan Pima County on the implementation of strategies concerning regional land use planning, and managing MPA’s Public Policy Committee,” the release said.
“I could not be more excited about what Amber brings to the table,” Guymon said. “Her successful experience working directly with elected officials throughout the region will tremendously help MPA carry out its mission now and into the foreseeable future.”
MPA is “dedicated to improving the quality of life and the economic viability of metropolitan Pima County,” it said. “MPA strives to create dialogue among diverse groups to promote sound community planning solutions.”
