Harelson Elementary Schools' parent-teacher organization puts on its book fair and art fair fund-raiser on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Barnes and Noble location at Foothills Mall.
The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Purchases made throughout the store qualify to help the PTO, including the café. Vouchers must be presented at the time of purchase, a release said.
The book fair helps raise funds to supplement the needs of students in grades K-6 at Harelson, which has been named an "Excelling School" for the past seven years. Earned proceeds go to help raise funds for support staff, equipment and learning materials.
Lupita Murillo, KVOA reporter, is the special guest reader at 11 a.m. Linda Kranz, children's author, is signing books from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Harelson students of all grade levels are performing from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the store's children's area. Artwork by Harelson students is being displayed at the top of the escalator.
"In addition to shopping for those on your holiday gift list, there will be wish lists available from many classroom teachers that help supply books and other materials to our students," the release continued.
All purchases at the Foothills Mall Chipotle location between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with a voucher result in donations to the Harelson PTO.
Vouchers for both events can be downloaded at the Harelson PTO website: http://www.amphi.com/schools/harelson/HARPto/home.html.
