“Solar Power 101: A community education series on solar energy,” comes to Marana this Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The event, put on by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the Pima County Public Library, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheeler Taft Abbett Branch Library, 7800 N. Schisler Road.

Giffords, a member of the House Science and Technology Committee, is scheduled to speak about new solar tax credits and Arizona’s solar energy potential.
Trico’s SunWatts program is being detailed. Participants can save money on photovoltaic and solar hot water systems.
Marana officials Rebecca Kunsberg and John Huntley are presenting plans for a new green building program in the community. They’ll take comments and suggestions from the audience.
A Giffords staff member is presenting the basics of financing and installing residential solar energy systems. This is the 11th Solar Power 101 course offered through Giffords’ office.
“These forums have been held throughout Southeastern Arizona and typically attract a high level of interest from a wide range of people interested in learning more about solar energy,” a Giffords staff member said.
