The Oro Valley Town Council on Wednesday, Oct. 27, adopted rules to establish where medical marijuana dispensaries would be permitted in the event a statewide ballot proposition passes.

The unanimous approval would limit dispensaries and cultivation centers to commercial areas. Additional limitations would enforce 1,000-foot buffers from schools, daycare facilities, libraries, parks and churches.

The land use rules also would require a 2,000-foot distance between dispensaries.
