Students from Marana High School and the Sonoran Science Academy will compete among Southern Arizona’s best and brightest for a chance to advance to the championship round.
Throughout the season, 54 teams go head-to-head, competing in rounds of three with the winner of each round advancing to the playoffs
This year’s Brainstorm champions will each receive new laptops, $500 in Cox Digital Dollars and a $1,000 grant from Cox to benefit their school.
All contestants will receive either tickets to the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix or the International Wildlife Museum in Tucson.
Cox will also reward the coach of the championship team with a digital communications gift pack that includes items like an iPod, DVDs and CDs.
The content and format for Brainstorm are based on the national “It’s Academic” quiz show, which began 48 years ago and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running TV quiz show.
