Races are developing for elected positions in the Town of Marana.
Mayor Ed Honea, who has served for 23 years on the town council, has filed his “statement of organization” and petitions with signatures to seek re-election.
Bret Summers, a retired Tucson police officer who previously ran for the town council, has submitted a statement of organization indicating his intention to run for mayor.
Incumbent town council members Russell Clanagan and Roxanne Ziegler, along with Dave Bowen, have submitted statements of organization for seats on the town council. Clanagan has also submitted his petitions, with signatures.
Candidates must collect between 96 and 187 signatures of support from Marana citizens for submission to the town clerk’s office before they can gain placement on the ballot.
Filings for town offices close Dec. 8.
Marana’s primary election is March 8. Its general election is May 17.
