I-10, EAST OF CASA GRANDE

Starting Dec. 6, Interstate 10 will narrow to one lane at night in both directions between its junction with Interstate 8 and State Route 87, east of Casa Grande.

The narrowing is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings until March. Drivers should allow extra travel time for travel between Phoenix and Tucson.

This segment of I-10 will be widened from two lanes to three lanes in each direction to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety along this heavily traveled corridor, a release said.

Crews are working from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday night through Friday morning each week. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will remain open during daytime hours and on weekends.

The $31.3 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project is anticipated to be complete during fall 2011.
