Complete bus service resumed Monday after union and Sun Tran leaders reached common ground, putting an end to the weeklong strike.
The agreement does not give union members raises. Increases in the cost of healthcare benefits would continue to be covered for the next two years.
Teamster members voted 250-76 to approve the contract. Teamsters members operate the municipal bus service, which Professional Transit Management manages for the City of Tucson.
The new terms allow for workers to resume negotiations if layoffs become necessary during the course of the agreement. The union would have the option to terminate the labor agreement if an alternate agreement could not be reached after five days of negotiation.
The increases in healthcare costs would cost the City of Tucson approximately $1.2 million over the two-year contract, according a news release from Sun Tran.

Passengers of Sun Tran buses can purchase select September passes at a reduced rate.
"We appreciate the patience of our passengers as we worked through the details of the new contract," said Katrina Heineking, Sun Tran general manager. "We're discounting the cost of September passes because we know how difficult the strike was for our passengers, and we want to encourage them to come back."
