Amphitheater public schools are in the midst of high-stakes AIMS testing this week, and officials are urging parents to help their children with test preparations.
Regular attendance, proper rest, scheduled homework time, healthy eating and encouragement are part of the district’s recommendations. Student guides, sample tests and actual AIMS questions are available at the Arizona Department of Education Web site, www.adc.az.gov.
“These tests are one very important measure of a student’s academic progress in school,” said Superintendent Dr. Vicki Balentine. “They help teachers and the rest of our staff to determine what students have learned and what they need to focus on, according to state standards.”
Balentine said it is “imperative that our students are well-prepared, and that preparation needs to occur as much in the classroom as it does outside of the school.”
Various tests run through the end of next week.
