Northwest Fire District has been praised for its annual financial reporting by a national organization.

The district received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The fire district’s comprehensive annual financial report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high GFOA standards, which include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to “clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR,” a release said.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the governmental accounting and financial reporting,” it continued.

David Gephart is the chief financial officer for the Northwest Fire District finance department.

For fiscal 2007, Northwest Fire reported total net assets of $14.39 million.
