Oro Valley is launching its "Shop Oro Valley" holiday campaign, encouraging local purchases Nov. 1-Jan. 5.
When residents and businesses owners shop Oro Valley this holiday season, and spend $25 or more, they become eligible to participate in a gift card drawing sponsored by Oro Valley businesses. Receipts are collected at Oro Valley Town Hall, located at 11000 N. La Cañada Drive, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winners are announced weekly, every Friday at 5 p.m.
The final prize, a staycation at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, is being announced at the Jan. 5 town council meeting.
"When residents and visitors shop locally, they are keeping Oro Valley dollars in the community and helping local businesses succeed," said Amanda Jacobs, economic development manager for the town.
Several businesses are participating in the holiday campaign. The town continues to partner with existing and new businesses, as well as with The Explorer and the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce on the "Shop Oro Valley" program.
Jon Lurie, owner of Keva Juice and a participant in the holiday campaign, encouraged people to take part.
"By shopping locally owned and operated Oro Valley businesses, like Keva Juice, you're supporting your own community and the people who live and work in it, not to mention providing the necessary services and amenities that are paid for by your Oro Valley sales tax dollars," Lurie said in a release. "If you're going to pay taxes, don't you want them making a difference where you actually live?"
