The Marana Town Council approved a separation agreement for Town Manager Mike Reuwsaat in a 6-1 vote on Tuesday, June 17.
Councilwoman Roxanne Ziegler was the lone dissenting vote.
Officials would not comment on the details of the separation agreement, citing that under a state statute, Reuwsaat had up to seven days to withdraw the document before it’s made public.
The council also approved raises for themselves, increasing each member’s total compensation by 82 percent, from $955 to $1,742 per month. The raises will go into effect July 1, 2009, when the next group of council members takes office.
The council also approved rezoning a plot of land near Hartman and Cortaro roads, paving the way for the expansion of Qwest Communications’ offices. The rezoning originally drew resistance from nearby residents concerned that the new building would decrease their property values.
The town’s $211.5 million fiscal 2009 budget also was approved.
The council also gave the green light to a development agreement with the Marana Health Center, paving the way for a new clinic near town hall.
