Marana police on Monday, Jan. 5, arrested a woman and charged her with vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal head-on collision that killed a Tucson man.
Police allege that on Dec. 20, 2008, a 2005 Dodge Dakota truck driven by Elizabeth Tuccini crossed the centerline on the eastside frontage Road of Interstate 10, between Marana and Pinal Air Park roads, and struck a 1987 Toyota pickup driven by Marco Salazar.
The wreck occurred about 10:35 p.m. near Milepost 234, according to Marana police.
Salazar, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
“Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in this collision,” police said in a Jan. 5 statement.
Tuccini, 21, had recently moved to the Tucson area from Michigan, according to Marana Sgt. Chris Warren. She was taken to the Pima County Adult Detention Center on Monday.
Vehicular manslaughter is a Class 2 felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, according to state statutes.
