Rep. Vic Williams held a 13-point lead Tuesday night, and appeared headed for a Republican Party nomination to seek re-election in House District 26.

The race for a second GOP berth on the November ballot was tighter. Terri Proud led Wade McLean by 3-1/2 points in early tabulation of District 26 votes cast in Tuesday’s primary election.

Williams, seeking a second two-year term, led the three with 7,856 votes, 43.29 percent of those counted. Proud was second at 5,431 votes (29.93 percent), McLean third with 4,794 votes (26.42 percent).

The two winners move on to the November ballot with incumbent Democratic Rep. Nancy Young Wright, who was unopposed this primary election.
