Republican candidates swept all three seats in the Arizona Legislative District 25 race.
GOP candidate Gail Griffin beat Democratic incumbent Sen. Manny Alvarez. Griffin claimed 29,594 votes, 55.2 percent of the total, to Alvarez’s 23,919 and 44.6 percent.
In the House, Republican incumbent Rep. David Stevens won re-election with 24,853 votes and 27.25 percent. Republican Peggy Judd bested Democratic incumbent Rep. Patricia Fleming with 25,222 votes, 27.65 percent of the total, to complete the GOP sweep of the district race.
District 25 takes in much of Marana west of I-10.
Already the majority in both houses, the results of last week’s election solidify two-thirds Republican majorities in the Arizona Legislature.
