Oro Valley’s newly established procurement division has received the National Purchasing Institute’s 13th-annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award.
The award was presented to procurement administrator Brian Garrity.
This marked the first time the award was given to a single-person organization, a release said.
“This is a really great achievement for the Town of Oro Valley,” Garrity said. “The procurement function was only established in September 2007, and this shows the town’s commitment to excellence in the procurement field.”
The award is given as part of an effort by the National Purchasing Institute to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement.
It is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes of the procurement organization, the release concluded.
