The Regional Transportation Authority Board has scheduled a special meeting for today, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m.
The sole item on the agenda is the possible assumption of regional transit operations by the RTA.
The transfer would involve the RTA taking over operations of the City of Tucson's Sun Tran bus service.
Today's meeting likely won't resolve the issue, rather the vote is intended to provide the RTA with direction after the Tucson City Council recently rejected a proposal for the transfer of control.
The board could decide today whether it intends to continue pursue efforts to take over operations of Sun Tran.
The board meets on the fifth floor of the Transamerica Building at 177 N. Church Avenue in downtown Tucson.
The RTA board is comprised of the mayors of Pima County municipalities, Pima County Board of Supervisors Chairman, and the chairmen of the Pascua Yaqui and Tohono O'odham Indian nations.
