People in Marana danced to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” on Saturday, contributing toward an attempt to break the world record for the largest simultaneous Thriller dance.
That record had been 1,722 dancers a year ago. This weekend, 3,960 people — 79 at Marana’s first Fall Heritage Festival — participated in Thrill the World.
“We want to connect the world by sharing the joy of dance, the celebration of community and the passion for living,” said Ines Markeljevic, Thrill the World creator and director. “I believe we did just that today.”
Thrill the World attracted dancers in 65 cities and nine countries. Gurnee, Ill., had 334 dancers.
