A group of unidentified vandals caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the Sunny Side Up Café in Catalina over Memorial Day weekend.
Café owner Mike Logan said he and his staff showed up to open Saturday morning only to find that on Friday night all of the windows in the facility had been broken.
With 18 windows being smashed at the 15800 Oracle Road location, Logan estimated the cost of repairs would be around $30,000.
The vandals did not deter the business from opening. Logan said it took about three hours to clean up all the glass, allowing them to open their doors to customers around 9 a.m. Saturday.
Nothing was stolen. Logan said the suspects simply caused a lot of damage.
Calling the situation frustrating, Logan said, “This is just ridiculous. Catalina isn’t what it is used to be.”
