For the first time in 12 years, a different mayor will preside over the Oro Valley State of the Town luncheon.
Mayor Satish Hiremath plans to give his first state-of-the-town address on Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Hilton El Conquistador.
The mayor said people could expect more than just a new face at the annual event.
"This is more a state of mind address," Hiremath said.
He plans to talk about how the various segments of the community, including government, seniors, environmentalists and businesses, can work together to make a successful town.
"I liken it to a puzzle," Hiremath said. "And how all those pieces are going to fit together over the next year."
In addition, town officials plan to unveil an updated Oro Valley economic development video.
"If we have people looking at our community, we want our tools to be current," said Mary Davis, Oro Valley communications administrator.
The video features updates of local businesses like Sanofi-aventis, Oro Valley Hospital and the Oro Valley Marketplace.
The town uses the video to help recruit new businesses. Partners with the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce, TREO and the Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau also use the production in recruitment efforts.
