A resident of a Northwest adult care facility was found dead Tuesday, Oct. 19, and a second resident was arrested Monday, Oct. 25, and charged with first-degree murder.

A nurse found Lee Carrillo, 62, unresponsive on the floor of the Casa Blanca Care Facility, located on the 6800 block of North Nova Place near the intersection of Ina and Thornydale.

Carillo was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no obvious signs of trauma.

Carillo was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy. That examination revealed signs of strangulation. The medical examiner's office contacted the Pima County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit for investigation.

On Monday, based on follow-up investigation and interviews with facility patients and staff, detectives arrested Cuauhtemoc Aguilla Carrasco, 66, and charged him with first-degree murder.

Carrasco was taken to the Pima County Jail on Monday. Bond was set at $100,000.

Pima County Sheriff's spokesman Jason Ogan described Casa Blanca as an adult foster care business. He said there were not signs of an altercation between the two men, and Ogan is not aware of any previous conflict between them.
