In the movie "50/50" there's a 50/50 chance you will like it. Some expected the movie to be funnier, and others found it to be the perfect balance between drama and humor.

Really, those expecting a comedy about a 27-year-old who has been diagnosed with cancer, even if Seth Rogan is listed as one of the stars, is a little crazy.

Inspired by a true story, "50/50" is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. .

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis in this new comedy directed by Jonathan Levine from a script by Will Reiser.

Gordon-Levitt, plays Adam, a 27-year-old diagnosed with a rare-form of cancer. Already tightly wound, Adam has to deal with a variety of emotions, from an over-dramatic mother to knowing his father has alzhiemers.

Movies like "50/50" are why I have become a fan of Gordon-Levitt. He knows how to capture those true-life characters. He did a good job in "500 Days of Summer," and did a good job in the recent DVD release.

Seth Rogan does what Seth Rogan does best in "50/50," he has his raunchy inappropriate moments that make you laugh out loud, especially when it comes to judging Adam's choice of girlfriends.

The first person Adam tells about his cancer is his girlfriend. She assures him and his family that she will be there for him. She even gets him an aging greyhound dog named "skelatore," to help through the pain.

Of course, the girlfriend proves to be anytime but supportive, especially when she is late picking him up from chemo therapy.

Adam's chemo therapy appointments add to the movie's humor with two older patients offering pot during treatment. No worries, Rogan stays true to most his movie characters, he too has some pot.

"50/50" has its moments of brilliance and other moments where the dialogue is missing something.

Altogether, it's another week where I would definitely recommend the cost of renting the film.
