(StatePoint) Across America, towns large and small continue to hold and create events that bring the community together, inspire pride and evoke traditional American values.

As the population prepares to celebrate the nation’s independence, a campaign called the “Best of US” is rewarding the celebrations that reflect the values of America and promote togetherness within the community.  The campaign, hosted by Johnsonville Sausage, called on individuals to nominate their hometown celebrations and is now awarding funding to the top 10 community events that reflect the American spirit.

Based on more than 71,000 votes from individuals nationwide, 10 community celebrations are being honored as the “Best of US,” ranging from a Heritage Fair in Baltimore, Maryland to a Popcorn Festival in Valparaiso, Indiana to a celebration for Medal of Honor recipients in Gainesville, Texas.

Taking top honors in the “Best of US” contest is Wayne Stock, an upstate New York music festival that raises funds yearly for victims of tragedy. Musicians perform for free and restaurants donate food, so profits go directly to helping victims.
