Oro Valley Council Representative Garner’s accusations that thuggery, conceit and union politics are practiced within the Oro Valley Police Department are “facts” that exist only in a world located between his two ears. I take great comfort in that, knowing his accusations are not geographically widespread or true.

Both council members Garner and Zinkin have created needless drama with their recent negative comments and allegations about the Oro Valley Police Department’s performance, practices, personnel and leadership.

As one wise woman once asked: “Where’s the beef?”

We in Oro Valley enjoy residency in one of the safest communities in the USA. This is due in no small part to a fine group of professionals ready to respond in time of need. Our appreciation should be conveyed to every officer and to Chief Sharp. To say “thank you for a job well done” is not enough. We must t support Chief Sharp with the resources to attract, train and retain a professional staff.

As W. Clement Stone once said: “There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”

Won’t you join me in expressing well-deserved positive comments about our Oro Valley Police Department?

Drama. Drama everywhere. Why can't we all just get along?
