The Canyon Del Oro softball team has done it again. On Monday night at Arizona State University’s Farrington Stadium, Canyon Del Oro defeated Peoria Sunrise Mountain 11-9 in the Division II Championships, winning in extra innings to claim the school’s eighth state title, and fifth in the last six years.

The Canyon Del Oro Dorados breathed a sigh of relief after mounting a comeback to defeat the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks on Friday night at Cherry Field. With the win, the Dorados advanced to Monday night’s Division II state softball championship game at Arizona State University’s Farrington Stadium, where they faced Peoria Sunrise Mountain.
The Ironwood Ridge girls’ tennis team was ecstatic as it trumped rival Catalina Foothills 5-4 to take down the team state title in Division II play on May 5.
Led by five determined seniors, the top-ranked Pusch Ridge Christian Academy softball team won the Division IV State Championship Saturday, beating sixth-seed St. Johns in a nail-biting 3-2 win.
As expected, there was no lack of excitement through the first round of the NBA playoffs. Two series’ being decided in a game seven and a #8 seed upsetting the team with the best record throughout the regular season. In addition, a much anticipated Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers matchup is finally set after the Lakers edged out the Denver Nuggets in a season saving game seven. It’s safe to say that these playoffs won’t disappoint.

The Canyon Del Oro Dorados can finally breathe a sigh of relief. They’re headed to the Division II state softball championship game after defeating the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks 11-6 on Friday night at Cherry Field.
The Canyon Del Oro Dorados and Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks will have a chance to settle things when they meet for the second time in the loser’s bracket of the Division II double elimination state tournament.
The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks and Canyon Del Oro Dorados met up for the fourth time this softball season, and when the dust cleared, it was the Nighthawks celebrating a 9-8 win and advancing to the semifinals of the state tournament.
