People interested in learning more about Tucson’s desert landscape and the plants and animals that live here, are invited to participate in events hosted by Pima County. They are:

Sonoran Desert Weedwackers

Join the Sonoran Desert Weedwackers on Wednesday, June 8, from 6 to 9 a.m. to eradicate buffelgrass and fountain grass in Tucson Mountain Park. Work may require hiking and pulling buffelgrass on steep slopes. Meeting locations change frequently.

This event will take place at Pima County Tucson Mountain Park, 2020 N. Kinney Road.

This free event is open to people ages 12 and older.

If you plan to attend or would like more information, contact eeducation@pima.gov or call 615-7855.

Animal Attraction and the Mating Game

Teens ages 12-19 can learn about how attracting mates is an important part of life in the animal world during a presentation on Wednesday, June 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave., in the teen room on the second floor.

During a free digital slide presentation, experts will explore how animals use scent, sound, color and impressive displays to catch the attention of potential mates.

For more information, call 615-7855 or email eeducation@pima.gov.
