Canyon Del Oro 56, Tucson 3

The Dorados went to 3-0 with a big win at Tucson.

Ka'Deem Carey, still nursing a sprained ankle and a broken hand, rushed for 184 yards on 11 carries. He also scored his first three touchdowns of the season, a 47-yard bolt, a 60-yard scamper, and a two-yard run in the third quarter.

Quarterback Jason McBrayer opened the scoring with for CDO. After faking a handoff to Carey, McBrayer ran 65 yards to give the team a 7-3 lead. McBrayer finished with 91 yards and two touchdowns rushing. CDO had 380 yards rushing overall to control the ball and clock. McBrayer threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Blake Martinez. McBrayer's last four completions have gone for touchdowns. This week, the Dorados will host Queen Creek on Thursday.

Ironwood Ridge 43, Laveen Chavez 18

The Nighthawks (2-1) used a well-balanced attack to thrive at home.

Tyler D'Amore completed 14 of 22 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns.

Mitch Fischer carried 12 times for 112 yards and scored twice. Gabe Campa rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. The Nighthawks pounded out 281 yards rushing.

Trevor Wesley had four receptions for 47 yards and two touchdowns, and he scored twice on two-point conversions. Thursday, the Nighthawks travel to Cienega to take on the always dangerous Bobcats.

Mesa Red Mountain 43, Mountain View 0

The Mountain Lions (1-2) lost to another high-powered opponent.

With starting quarterback Marcos McMillon still out with an injury, the Mountain Lions went to the ground game. Weston Kimmel gained 57 yards on 13 carries. Dillon Davidson was five for 29 yards. This Thursday, the Mountain Lions travel to Sabino to take on last year's runner-up in the state title game.

Cholla 42, Marana 27

The Tigers (0-3) made great strides offensively.

Addin Soto completed 11 of 22 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He's now thrown four touchdown passes on the year. Tanner Morse carried the ball 17 times for 64 yards. Jose Zazueta gained 37 yards on five carries. Zazueta also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. After a blocked punt, Jaylon Hill scored a touchdown, and Marana closed the gap at that point to 28-21 in the third quarter.

Kord Catt caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Marana has a bye this week. On Friday, Sept. 24, they'll host Sabino.

Pusch Ridge 17, Phoenix Christian 0

The Lions (1-1) won at Phoenix Christian.

Sam Dunn led the defensive effort with one interception and one fumble recovery. For the second week in a row, he controlled the outside, and helped a speedy defense hold their opponents to just 59 yards rushing and 43 passing.

Quarterback Tyler Goodwillie ran for 95 yards on 14 carries, and also found the end zone twice. Tyler Vance carried 16 times for 52 yards. The ground game had 180 yards.

This Friday, the Lions travel to Miami to take on the Vandals.
