Two former University of Arizona baseball players who are now professionals conduct their first baseball camp Dec. 5 and 6 in Oro Valley.
The Brown-Meloan Baseball Camp is being held at James Kriegh Park and the Canyon del Oro High School varsity baseball field.
Jordan Brown, the 2009 International League batting champion and all-star who plays in the Cleveland Indians organization, and John Meloan, a pitcher of the Oakland A's system, run the camp by age group. Youngsters ages 8-12 work out from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at James Kriegh Park. Players ages 13-17 take to the CDO field from 2 to 5 p.m.
Cost is $110 for both days, or $60 for one day. For information, call 465-5250, or e-mail brownmeloanazcamp@yahoo.com.
Brown and Meloan want to do something to help Little League baseball players and Little League Baseball in Tucson. To do so, a portion of the proceeds from the camp is being donated to Canyon Del Oro Little League and the Arizona District 5 Little League college scholarship program. They plan to conduct camps at a different host Little League site annually. The host league and the Arizona District 5 College Scholarship Fund will receive a portion of the proceeds each year.
Other professional and current Arizona baseball players are serving as instructors.
