During halftime of the showdown between Canyon Del Oro and Catalina Foothills, a near-nude streaker raced across the field, jumped a fence on the outskirts of the track and kept going.

It was the easiest run of Homecoming night for the Falcons.

The Dorados (7-0) dominated their rivals from start to finish on their way to a 35-7 victory, showcasing a new level of variety in the process.

While standout junior running back Ka'Deem Carey finished the game with 132 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, the story of the game was more reliance on the passing game, headed by senior quarterback Mike Lewis.

"We're trying to do different things for sure, we want to open up our offense and see what we can do," said CDO head coach Dusty Peace.

Lewis completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for three touchdowns and one interception, utilizing a wide variety of targets despite a bulky cast on his non-throwing hand.

After a scoreless first quarter, Lewis exploded for two touchdown passes in three minutes, one to senior wide receiver Josh Robbins with 11:55 left in the second, and one to senior running back Eddie Smith with nine minutes left in the half.

Robbins finished the game with eight receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown, and Smith caught three passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns, his second coming on a ball that hit the shoulder pads of senior CDO wideout Jared Tevis, bouncing high into the air and coming down in an airborne Smith's hands.

Tevis notched a score for the defense in the third with a 60-yard interception return after a hard hit from junior cornerback Brodie Henry on a Catalina Foothills wideout popped the ball into his hands.

The Dorados' defense stifled the Falcons running and passing games for much of the contest, but the Falcons rushing game saw some success from running back Alyn Fletcher, who carried 20 times for 120 yards. Quarterback Adam Larriva was able to complete a few long passes, finishing 16 of 28 for 178 and a touchdown with two interceptions.

Next up for the Dorados: a trip to Flowing Wells (0-6), Peace's alma mater, this Friday.

The first-year head coach, who still maintains contact with many members of the Caballeros' coaching staff, said there's no mixed feelings about the game.

"We're just going to work on getting better at the things we need to get better at, we've got to be solid all the way through," he said.
