Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College volleyball team (2-3, 0-1 in conference) held leads in the first two games but could not catch up in the third against Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday at the West Campus gym.

The Aztecs lost 23-25, 24-26, 18-25 in their first conference matchup of the season. In the first game, Pima’s biggest lead was at 8-4. Down 20-24 later in the set, Pima rallied and cut it to 23-24 but Eastern closed it out on the next point. In the second game, the Aztecs opened a 19-13 lead after taking eight of the last 10 set points but Eastern would come back to tie it at 22-22. Katie Rudophi’s (Santa Rita HS) kill put Pima back up 23-22 but that would be Pima’s last lead of the second game. In the third game, Eastern opened up a nine-point lead. The Aztecs would cut it to five on a couple of occasions but that was as close as they would get.

Kristin Hains (Marana Mountain View HS) led the Aztecs with 13 kills and two blocks. Rudolphi finished with 11 kills and nine digs while Courtney Pitts (Catalina HS) had 15 digs for the match.

The Aztecs will play at South Mountain Community College on Friday at 7 p.m.
