The players for Mountain View have had a rough few seasons with a constant change in head coach.
In 2010 Justin Argraves left for Tucson High School, and then last year, the team thought they had a coach ready to take over for good, only to have him surprisingly leave after only a season.
Now, the team looks to newly-appointed Head Clarence “Bam” McRae to bring some kind of normalcy to the field.
The Mountain Lions were successful in the home opener, defeating inner-valley rival Marana 25-18 with plenty of fireworks in the fourth quarter.
Now at 1-0, the Mountain Lions have plenty of obstacles ahead with a tough schedule and with trying to let go of the last few seasons.
Coaching changes aren’t the only thing the players have to adjust to. The team also lost star player Cris Thorson, who transferred to Ironwood Ridge High School.
Now, the Mountain Lions look to junior starting quarterback Cody Rochon, who showed he can run and pass in the season’s first outing.
Last season, the Mountain Lions finished 4-6.
This season, all they can do is look to improve.
Earlier this season, McRae said, “My goals for the team are limitless. We set our goals extremely high, and certainly are shooting to do the best we possibly can. I think we have an opportunity in every single game we play. As long as we execute and take care of our business, we should be okay.”
