PCC Women’s Basketball Defeats Eastern Arizona

The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (11-11, 7-6 in conference) came alive in the second half to beat Eastern Arizona College 88-80 on Saturday at the West Campus’ Aztec Gym.

The Aztecs trailed 44-37 at halftime but came out and tied the game at 46-46 three minutes in to the second half. They went on a 9-0 run that began at the 11:15 mark and wouldn’t relinquish the lead. Felicia Foster’s (Peoria HS) three-pointer gave the Aztecs a 71-60 lead with 5:46 left in the game, which matched the Aztecs biggest lead. Pima outscored Eastern 51-36 in the second half.

The Aztecs had five players score in double figures. A’jha Edwards (Tombstone HS) earned her 12th double-double of the year with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She also had three blocks as well. Alyssa Roche (Cienega HS) went 4 for 5 from three-point range and finished with 16 points. Foster (Peoria HS) went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line and had 13 points. Shayna Porter (Centennial HS) added 12 points and Ashlei Scott (Chandler HS) contributed with 11.

The Aztecs will play at Central Arizona College on Wednesday in Coolidge. The game will start at 5:30 p.m.
