PCC Men’s Soccer Beats Scottsdale After Big First Half

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (6-4, 6-4 in conference) ended its three-game losing streak on Saturday after it defeated Scottsdale Community College 4-1 at the Kino North Grandstand.

The Aztecs struck early when Arturo Vega (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored with an assist from Roberto Zatarain (Ironwood Ridge HS) in the 3rd minute. The next two goals for Pima came on penalty kicks. Anthony Alvarez (Sunnyside HS) put one in at the 16th minute mark and Christian Cabello (Salpointe Catholic HS) made it 3-0 with his in the 27th.

Scottsdale responded in the second half with a goal in the 50th but the Aztecs got it back when JC Henson (Buena HS) scored with an assist from Cabello in the 71st minute.

The Aztecs held Scottsdale to one shot on goal and Emmanuel Jimenez (Desert View HS) had the save. Pima had six shots on goal.

The Aztecs will play its fourth straight home game at the Kino North Grandstand on Thursday against Glendale Community College at 7 p.m.
